Christmas

Christmas is the best time of the year. You get to be with the family and friends. And you get to give things to people you love. I love to see their face when they open the present. It is like they are just shocked. Another thing that is great about Christmas is no school for two weeks, which means no homework.

But the best thing about Christmas is its Jesus birthday. Jesus was born on this day to be our Savior. Gifts were brought to him because people loved him. We also give gifts to our family and friends because we love them.

Christmas is the time of year when we get to decorate our house and yard with beautiful lights. My dad, brother and I always enjoy going to pick out our Christmas tree. Of course we always try to get the biggest one at the tree farm. Our tree this year is ten feet tall and really fat. It is beautiful. The tree takes about 1,000 lights. It took all of us to get it in the house.

We always decorate our yard with lights and blow-ups of a manger scene, snowmen, snow globes, Santa, reindeer and polar bear. When we finish decorating the yard we take time to look at it. The yard is always so pretty.

Another thing about Christmas that I enjoy is going to the church Christmas play. Our church puts on a play every year. This year they put on The Gospel According to Scrooge. The church is packed for five nights and a Saturday afternoon play. This play is great.

As Christmas is getting closer I hope everyone will remember the true meaning of Christmas, not just about the gifts. I would like to say Merry Christmas to everyone who reads my blog.

Skidaway Trip

I can't believe that this school year is almost over and summer vacation will be here. Next week will be very busy since we have finals Monday and Tuesday and then Wednesday we leave for our trip to Skidaway. I am very excited about our trip. This weekend I am going to try to get most everything packed so I will have that completed. I have all the stuff I need to take, but it still takes time to decide how to pack everything. I was upset last week when three of my friends, who I thought I would room with, asked someone else. But everything always works out, because two other friends asked me to room with them. I know Mrs. Riggins is going to make the final decision as to who we will room with, but I know it will all work out. What we want to happen is not always the best. Sometimes friends hurt our feelings but we have other friends to cheer us up. I know God always looks after us and I always bounce back. I know the trip will be educational and fun. I am looking forward to the ghost tour. I pray that we will have a safe trip and everyone will have fun.

Officer Colquitt

This blog is in honor of Officer Joey Colquitt, who died over the weekend. He died Friday night after having a massive heart attack. He was the D.A.R.E. Officer for Meriwether County. Officer Colquitt was very nice. He was always joking around and making us laugh. For example, he said Blake would be driving a tractor to the prom. He would have done anything for us. He would have helped us with any problem that we had. He was a easy person to talk to. Officer Colquitt could be serious also. He never joked around when he was talking about drugs and violence. His job was very serious to him. He really enjoyed teaching kids and telling them about the danger of drugs. I always enjoyed the programs he presented. He used some videos and stuffed animals in his teaching. He also gave each one of us a t-shirt. Officer Colquitt will be really missed in the community and at school. My prayers go out to his family and friends. I LOVE YOU OFFICER COLQUITT!! I would like to say to everyone, remember what Officer Colquitt taught us. SAY NO TO DRUGS!!

Killing Mr. Griffin

Tuesday we finished reading Killing Mr. Griffin. The book was good but had a weird ending. I didn't like the part when they tied Mr. Griffin up and he had a heart attack and died. Mr. Griffin really loved teaching and wanted the kids to get a good education. My teachers are similar to Mr. Griffin when it comes to helping us. They are willing to help if we have questions. I know I work as hard as I can and sometimes I still need help. When I go to my teachers for help they are very understanding. Mr. Griffin would stay after school to help his students. Mrs. Porter has stayed after school to help me and last year Mrs. Chapman did a study group after school to help her students. I feel like any of my teachers would be willing to stay to help us. I thought it was sad that Mr. Griffin died. I don't feel the students really meant for their prank to end that way. Sometimes we don't think before pulling a prank on someone. I think we should give more thought to our actions before we actually do them. A lot of times people are really hurt by some of the things we say or do. Maybe we are only playing around but sometimes it hurts really bad. I have never pulled a prank on anyone. I try to be friends with everyone.

Anyways

This week I am writing my blog on a song called ''Anyways'' by Martina McBride. This song has good advice for everyone. You can spend your whole life trying and one thing could come and mess it all up, try it anyway. In my life I keep trying even though I might not do the best, I will keep trying anyway. You can dream but it might not ever come true, but dream it anyway. I know I can relate to this because I can dream big and I know it may never come true, but I dream it anyway. One of my big dreams did come true so I know I should keeping dreaming, anyway. Prayer is a wonderful thing. I know in our prayers we ask for things that we are not granted, but pray it anyway. God is wonderful and he knows what is best for us so I will continue to pray anyway. Tomorrow may not be a better day than today, but expect it to be anyway. There is a lot of bad things happening in our world today, but we have to keep believing tomorrow will be better anyway. I will continue to try, dream and pray, anyway.

My Top 5 Books

My favorite top five books are Flicka, The Westing Game, The Pretty Committee Strikes Back, Anne of Green Gables, and Blue Willow. Flicka is my favorite book. As everyone knows, I love horses and Flicka was about a horse. The book was about a young boy that loved horses and I could relate to his feelings. I loved the ending because everything turned out great for Flicka. The Westing Game was another book I enjoyed. This book was a mystery and kept you guessing what was going to happen next. This book had clues to solve and lots of people involved. You did not know how it was going to end. Another one of my favorite books is The Pretty Committee Strikes Back. I love all the Clique books because they are about girls my age. In this book, the girls got in a lot of trouble but managed to get out. The girls are really close friends and most of the time get along with each other. This book was really good. Anne of Green Gables is a great book. Anne could make you laugh and sometimes you would want to cry with her. She was always getting in trouble but didn't mean too. She was really a good girl. My fifth book was Blue Willow. This little girl didn't have much but she treasured what she had. I would feel sorry for her and would hate to know I had to live like she did. She was always happy no matter what. The book had a great ending. I would recommend reading these books.

Mrs. Chapman

I am not the kind of person to criticize but because Mrs. Chapman said to tell her strength and weakness I'll do my best. I think she is a good teacher. She has a unique way. She makes power points for us. They really help me study for the test. Mrs. Chapman is kind of strict but in some ways that is good. She does not let us talk her out of homework when we know we need it. I'm not a straight A student but I try real hard. I give it a hundred percent. I think we have it good compared to some students. Mrs. Chapman is not mean, she is nice. Mrs Chapman is a teacher with a hard subject. English has a lot of rules to learn. Mrs. Chapman makes me very nervous when we have a test. Sometimes her handwriting is hard for me to read. I don't have any room to talk because my handwriting is messy too. Sometimes I think she needs to go over some things more than once. I can't be too critical because I like Mrs. Chapman.

Spring Break

SPRING BREAK! It finally arrived. The words spring break brings a ringing sound to my ears. No school for a whole week. Nana and I went shopping and I got some cute clothes. Saturday, Dad, Lane and I went to Hawkinsville to the rodeo arena for clean-up day before MGJRA puts on a performance rodeo for the city of Hawkinsville April 14. I got to practice roping and I must say I done pretty good. Mrs. Chapman assigned us a video we have to do for English. My group is composed of myself, Jordan and Gayla. We got together Monday afternoon at Jordan's relatives cabin and had a great time. We had lots of fun filming our video. I think the video is going to be really good. I hope the rest of my spring break will be fun.

Sad Event - Happy Ending

Last night my dad received a phone call that was upsetting to me. Last weekend at the rodeo a man was there trying to sell a horse. The man did not belong with the rodeo. We had never seen him before on the rodeo grounds. Someone called my dad last night and said the horse had been left there since Sunday with no food or water. I guess after everyone left the rodeo the man came back and put the horse in a small corral. Since I have a tender heart and am so attached to all my animals, I could not believe someone would be so mean to do such a thing. My dad immediately got on the phone with another officer of the rodeo, who lives much closer to the rodeo grounds than we do. This gentlemen drove down to check on the horse and made sure it was taken care of and had food and water. After he called us back, I felt much better about the horse. I can't imagine how people can be so mean to an animal. Animals depend on us to take care of them. This made me think about the people living during Anne's time that were put into concentration camps and had to do without food and water. These people were mistreated also. When you think about what happened to this horse, it was also mistreated. I believe when you have to go that long without anything to eat or drink it has to be very painful. I am glad that someone called my dad, because he is a person that would see something was done to take care of the horse.

My Life

I'm so glad that my life is different from Anne and her sister. They had to stay in a small room all the time but I can get out in the yard or ride my horse whenever I want to. I have a loving family that makes sure I have nice clothes, a great school, wonderful church and that I am allowed to do things that I enjoy. I'm sure that Anne loved the outdoors but could not go out because of the Green Police. I don't have to worry about something like the Green Police. I would hate to think that I would not be allowed to ride my horse or go to the rodeos. Going to the rodeo is one of my favorite things to do. I get to see my friends that I may only get to see once a month. Since Anne had to stay in one room she never got to see any of her friends. One of my best friends lives in Alabama and we only get to see each other once a month. And sometimes she doesn't get to come. I know how Anne felt when she had to say goodbye to her friends and relatives, because at the end of the rodeo we have to say goodbye but only for a short while. Anne did not know when she would see her friends again. Yesterday when we started to school the sunrise was beautiful. Anne loved to see the sky when she woke up every morning but was unable to see the sky from her room. When I wake up every morning I take things for granted. Everyone needs to stop and take time to think how blessed we are today. I'm thankful that I am blessed.

Friends

Friends can change like a favorite bracelet. That can change from day to day or week to week. Sometimes that is good and sometimes not so good. But either way you will find new friends. And that is the good part. There are people just like you. They will like you for yourself.

Fun Weekend

This weekend I had lots of fun. Friday I had to go to the eye doctor, it was horrible. The doctor said I have to wear glasses for a year. He makes me so mad. Well after all that was said and done we went to eat and then Hannah came over to my house. The fun was only beginning! Well Friday was gone and Saturday came as always. Saturday was a really long day but fun. Nana, Hannah, and I went Bass Pro Shop to sell tickets for the rodeo. We sold a lot of them. My Dad and little brother, Lane went to his game and then went to practice. After practice they came to Bass Pro Shop. Then we all went to eat at Cici's Pizza. When we got home Hannah and I watched Broken Bridges. Then we went to bed. Sunday came and we went to church. When we got back we rode horses. We rode about three hours. Then we unsaddled and about one hour later we took Hannah home. That was my great weekend.

Movies

We have been watching movies this week in class about people in concentration camps. The parts of these we have been watching were very good. The people were starved and mistreated. It is sad to me to think anyone could be so cruel as to put these people in camps and starve them. When I watch television and see the children in foreign countries that are underfed it makes me very sad. After thinking about the movies, I realize how lucky I am. I don't have to worry about starving or being locked up. I am free to do things with my family and attend church.

The field trip

This week was fun! The field trip was to the Opera House in Macon. The field trip was so cool, the plays were great and I liked them! I liked the play about the headless horseman the best. We stopped at Chick-fil-a on the way back to school. Everyone was dressed up for the trip and looked very nice. I enjoyed the trip. The rest of week was good.

My life compared to Anne

Anne and I don't get along with our moms very good. We both run to our dad when something is wrong. Her dad was always there for her and my dad is always there to support me. We are both 13 years old. I would not have wanted to trade places with her. I would have been very scared if I had to go in hiding. I would have wanted a diary to write everything in, since I write in a diary. It would be very hard for me to go in hiding because I would want to take my family and friends, plus my horse, dog and cat. It would be very hard to hide a horse. I would have a hard time having to say goodbye to my friends and relatives who could not go with me. This would be a very hard thing to do.

MY WEEKEND

I had a great weekend. First of all, my friend, Hannah, came home from school and spent the night with me. When we got home from school we rode horses until my dad got home. We went to watch my little brother practice baseball. After that my dad took us all to El Durango to eat and we saw my friend, Jennifer. The next day was a very busy day. We got up fairly early, had breakfast and then got ready to go to the horse show. Hannah rode my horse, Chilly, and I rode my other horse, Katy, in the grand entry. I ran poles on my horse, Chilly. The pole fell over but I know we didn't knock it over. We left the horse show, came home and dressed to go to the Supercross Race in Atlanta. By this time my brother also had a friend with him. My dad took us to the Varsity before we went to the Supercross. We all had a great time. Hannah and Brett's parents met them in Gay after we returned home.
Sunday, Dad, Lane and I went to church and went out to eat lunch. After getting home we just relaxed.

Diary of Anne Frank

Anne and her family and the Van Daan family have gone into hiding because they are Jews and the Germans are taking all Jews and putting them in concentration camps. They are staying in Mr. Frank's office. From 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. they could not talk, go to the WC or walk to go somewhere else. They had to study their school work during this time. Mr. Dussell has come to stay with them for a few days. Mr. Kealer said Mr. Dussell would only stay until they could find him a place to stay. Mr. Frank was rude to Mr. Dussell. Mr. Dussell has been with them for two nights. Anne made presents for everyone for Hannaka. They heard a robber downstairs and thought it was the Green Police and Peter went to turn off the light. Peter fell before he turned off the light and he scared the robber. Mr. Kealer came to the office to get a raise and noticed the bookcase was where the door use to be. There is a blackmailer and they think it's the robber. The people that Miep was getting ration books from got arrested so it cut down on their food. Peter and Anne are talking about every day life. They are going on a date. Anne asked Margot if she was jealous of her. Margot said yes in a way because you have someone to wake up to but she is not jealous of Peter. Mrs. Frank is acting like Mrs. Van Daan because she is mad at Anne. Mr. Van Daan sold Mrs. Van Daan fur coat that her dad gave her.
